Mount Rinjani have the height of 3,726 m above sea level and is the highest mountain number 3 in Indonesia. The existence of the lake "Segara Anak" is one of the reasons why this mountain is one of the most beautiful in Indonesia. Lake "Segara Anak" is a place that must be visited when climbing Mount Rinjani. The beauty of the lake "Segara Anak" to become favorite camp where the climbers. Climbers can fish in the lake "Segara Anak". Near the lake "Segara Anak" there are also hot springs which of course adds to the appeal of this mountain.

Mount Rinjani is located at latitude 8º 25' southern latitude and 116º 28' longitude is a favorite for mountain climbers Indonesia for its beautiful scenery. This mountain is part of the Mount Rinjani National Park which has an area of approximately 41,330 hectares and will be proposed the addition to be 76,000 ha to the west and east.

In the west there is a caldera cone Rinjani area of about 3,500 m × 4,800 m, extending to the east and west. In this caldera are "Segara Anak" area of 11,000,000 sq. m with a depth of 230 m. The water that flows from the lake to form a very beautiful waterfall, flowing through a steep ravine. In "Segara Anak" there are a lot of carp and tilapia that are often used for fishing. The southern part of the lake is called "Segara Endut".

On the east side of the caldera contained Mountains "Baru" (Barujari) which has a crater measuring 170m × 200 m with a height of 2296-2376 m above sea level. This small mountain last active/erupted from the date of May 2, 2009 and during May, having previously also erupted in 2004. If the 2004 eruption no casualties, the eruption of 2009 has claimed the lives of 31 people indirectly, a flash flood in the river due to the insistence Tanggek larvae to "Segara Anak". Previously, Mount Barujari ever recorded erupted in 1944 (and creation), 1966, and 1994. In addition to the crater of Mount Barujari there are also others that had erupted, called Mount "Rombongan".
