President Emeritus of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center is Lawarence Corey, Professor of Medicine and specialist virology, immunology, and vaccine University of Washington. Corey contributes to the pathogenesis study and treatment of diseases caused by viruses, especially HIV and Herpes virus.
Corey received his BA and MD from the University of Michigan, and training at the University of Washington. In the 1980s he worked with Nobel Prize winner and expert-Pharmacology Biochemistry, Dr. Gertrude Elion. In addition to work researching the HIV virus, Professor Corey also conduct research Hepatitis B.
In 2008, Dr. Corey founded the biotechnology company, Immune Design.
